NOT EVERY DAY IS A BUILDING DAY…

I give my teachers themes to use for their classes, and we swap them very two weeks. For the past two weeks I have had chanting, and usually I love it- but I have struggled to use my voice.

I have had some big stresses to deal with these past two weeks, and I just did not have the capacity to share my voice, nor hold a room whilst others shared theirs.

And that’s okay! To show up authentically, we have to meet ourselves where we are.

I read a brilliant post the other day by Scott D Clary (10minmindset)-

Not every day is a building day. Some days are maintenance days. Some days are demolition days. Some days are rest days. Trying to build on a rest day just produces bad architecture. Know which day you’re in. Respond accordingly.

I bloody love this analogy! I think for me, I have been at such capacity, that I NEEDED rest days, but life has been a tad too busy these past two weeks for that to be a reality. And so- unbeknownst to me- I chose maintenance instead!

That is the thing right- life does not always let you have the day you need. So what do we do about that?

Ah, now comes the concept of MICRODOSING (not magic mushrooms… although.., you do you!).

I am talking about microdosing rest. Microdosing regulation practises that help you come back to yourself. Press pause. Start again.

-              10 mins in the sunshine with your shoes off

-              Ten mins legs up the couch

-              Four mins of 4 count breath (in for 4, out for 4)

-              Ten mins meditating

-              Four mins of body shaking

-              Four mins humming

-              Four mins running the insides of your wrists under cold water

-              Ten mins curling up with your dog in their bed

These become circuit breakers. So, on a day that needs to be rest, but is set to demolition and you can’t change it… microdose my friend!

You all have ten minutes… and if you don’t believe me, look at your screen time on socials 🤪

Yoga means to yoke, to unite. So these practises that help you reunite with you? Yup, they are yoga!
