Beginner yogis?

Not done yoga before and feel totally intimidated?

 

Have you never done a yoga class before and want to, but have no idea where to start? Start here!

 

I get it- starting yoga feels very intimidating. You assume that everyone in the room is going to be in matching outfits, skinny and super bendy, whereas you struggle touch your toes and do not even know where ya leggings are. I get it!

These are just assumptions though, that I can promise you. Every yogi in the room felt this way at the start. And I still can’t touch my toes because my hamstrings are like concrete, so there! 

 

But no one EVER regretted introducing yoga into their lives. I am a much calmer, more centred person, and my body feels much more mine these days because of my regular practise! So lets help you get started.

 

We have two ways that you can do a beginners course at Sowa Yoga

-              A 5 week online program so you can learn from your lounge room

-              A 4 week live course in our studio in Matraville coming up in June 

 

The beginners course is good if you cannot get into the studio. 

The live course is good if you can get there, as you will get the teachers eyes on what you are doing, and can ask questions!

 

In either format, you will be completely supported. We will take you through how to move with the breath, introduce you to some standard yoga poses and how to move between them, you will even learn how to do a sun salutation! You will leave with enough knowledge to feel confident to walk into a yoga class and start your love affair with yoga. Because one thing I can promise you, is that those who like it, end up loving it! You’ve been warned! 

 

Starting yoga IS intimidating at first- there are lots of poses, and lots of weird names, and you won’t know what is happening. BUT… you won’t stay that way for long! The only way to get familiar with the poses, is to keep showing up and practising. 

 

So dust off your mat, and give yoga a go- it will be the best gift you could give yourself, and your nervous system will thank you!
